Gunfighters: Living The Legend - Showing
Open to the Public! We will be showing the documentary "Gunfighters: Living The Legend" at the Layton City Library on the 25th of January at 7pm. The film takes a look at the classic definition of the gunfighter and the tools that made them legendary. It then takes a look at the role of the media, from the dime novel to the Hollywood blockbuster, in developing our current perception of the gunfighter and the old west. The film then takes a look at the people who are today keeping the idea of the Old West and the gunfighter alive by living the legend. The through line of the show follows our team of researchers and re-enactors as they prepare to film and Old West gunfight. The re-enactment is a hodge podge of vaudville, Hollywood, and a dash of how it may have been, all mixed together. This documentary is the first for Independent Adventure Productions. The production company has been developed with a two fold mission. First is to not only capture history but to live history in order to gain increased insight into historical subjects. Secondly we work with the Historical Documentaries Research class taught by our producer, Roger Blomquist PhD. at UVU to provide and outlet for history students to present their findings. We are also looking for additional venues to present our production. If you are interested in hosting a viewing, please contact us. For more information please visit our web site at www.iapfilms.com
